About Crest
Emergency service group, CREST, is a non-profit, voluntary organization
In the majority of the big cities and significant towns of Australia, CREST began operations in September 1976.
CREST’s initial responsibility was to keep an eye on the Citizens Band Radio Service’s (CBRS) emergency frequencies and pass public help requests to the appropriate emergency services.
Since then, this position has expanded to include a variety of specialised communications support for other emergency services and local non-profits.
CREST members frequently assist schools and sports teams with important safety communications for activities like fun runs, bicycle rides, and similar activities.
As a “Specialist Communications Support Unit to the Emergency Services,” CREST SA has been acknowledged as such.
This indicates that CREST SA is able to be contacted by the authorities to offer communications and other support during emergencies and disasters.
Since CREST SA is mostly self-funded, it depends on donations from the general population.
